Introduction

This is the blog for the Kemble and Cirencester 3 peaks expedition.

Between 17 and 20 June 2010 a group of 22 explorers will set off to climb the 3 highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon). The challenge is to complete the 3 peaks in 24 hours.

Agenda for 3 Peaks 17/20 June 2010

Created a blog for the Kemble and Cirencester 2010 3 peaks expedition.

The last couple of days have been spent getting the final arrangements necessary before the big departure tomorrow, on the 3 Peaks expedition.

The agenda has been revised.

Thursday 17 June 2010:
  • 5pm: Travel Cirencester to Carlisle area 256 miles 4.5 hours
  • 4:45pm: 1st pickup Kemble Shop ALe / TPr / TCh / BWa / HFr / CHo / CJo / PJo / RHo / NFo / SEd / TPo
  • 5pm: 2nd pickup Dave Hall's, Gloucester Street, Stratton DHa / KHa / ARa / MWo / MWa
  • 5:30pm: 3rd pickup Bentham / Brockworth A46 off A417 CDa / DHo
  • 7:30pm: 4th pickup M6 J17, garage 100 yards down road JOw
  • 10pm: 5th pickup Carlisle Premier Inn HGo
  • 9:30pm: Arrive in Carlisle area
  • Spend night at Premier Inn Carlisle M6 J44
Friday 18 June 2010:
  • 9am: Travel Carlisle to Fort William 203 miles 4.5 hours
  • 9:05am: 6th pickup Carlisle station JDi
  • 1pm: Arrive Fort William
  • Last minute provisions + full tanks of petrol in Morrisons / Fort William + Big Lunch;
  • 6pm: Start Ben Nevis;
  • 10:30pm: Complete Ben Nevis;
  • 10:30pm: Start drive to Scafell Pike 250 miles 5.5 hours
Saturday 19 June 2010:
  • 4am: Arrive Scafell Pike (Seathwaite);
  • 4am: Start Scafell Pike
  • 8:30am: Complete Scafell Pike (Wasdale)
  • 8:30am: Start drive to Snowdon (Pen y Pass YH) 200 miles 4.5 hours
  • 1pm: Arrive Snowdon (Pen y Pass YH);
  • 1pm: Start Snowdon
  • 5pm: Complete Snowdon
  • 5pm: Have a beer
  • 6pm: Check in The Heights Hotel, Llanberis
  • 7:30pm: Curry in Llanberis
Sunday 20 June 2010:
  • 10am: Start drive to Cirencester 184 miles 4 hours
  • 2pm: Arrive Cirencester
Elapsed "3 peaks" time = 23 hours!
